Film Synopsis:

Hair flies in the life of teenage Olivia, who is totally bald due to the medical condition alopecia. Olivia works at the hair salon that is owned by her ex-beauty queen mom, after school and on Saturdays. Olivia's challenge is not her hair loss, but the relationship with her mother. Flora wants Olivia to wear wigs and compete in pageants, as she did. But Olivia has other plans. She wants to skateboard and attract the attention of Chad, the assistant manager of Skaterz Skateboard Shop. Olivia has no hair, but is surrounded by situations involving hair and beauty. The film creates awareness for alopecia as well as addresses bullying, self acceptance, diversity, how beauty is viewed and other teen issues.

It is hard to believe that the entire film project began in 2007 during a simple discussion at Dairy Queen with Olivia, her mom and one of her friends. From that day, Wig'd Out was in development until Olivia's Cause teamed up with Kate Chaplin of Karmic Courage Productions in 2014. After several script revisions the project began to move forward. It took until 2015 to bring the movie to life! So many talented people poured their hearts and souls into creating Wig'd Out!

In the spring of 2015 Wig'd Out began pre-production and casting. Local teen Georgia Simmons was cast in the lead role of Olivia. Marc Price ("Skippy" of the tv series Family Ties) was cast as Chip Winkleton. Alopecia Awareness Advocates Jeff Woytovich (of The Children's Alopecia Project) and Kayla Martell (Miss America Contestant 2011) were cast in cameo roles. Other actors came from LA, New York, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, Avon, Tipton, Evansville, Columbus and more.

Local merchants and businesses (in Noblesville, Indiana and surrounding areas) supported Wig'd Out with corporate sponsorships and donations. Halo Hair Studio, The Wild Bookstore, Latitude 360, The Noblesville Boys and Girls Club, Shar's Hair, Ben and Ari's, Noblesville Parks, The Mill Top Event Center and downtown Noblesville provided amazing filming locations. Cambria Suites Hotel of Noblesville provided lodging for the out of town actors. Nameless Catering provided catering during all filming days. Corporate sponsors included Movoto Real Estate, Marburger Flooring, Fishers Dentistry, Pilar to Post Home Inspections and Pulte Homes.

Filming wrapped on July 28, 2015 and was released on April 13, 2016.

Other cast includes Cindy Maples, Tera Rodocker Smith, Jose Sepulveda, Jenna Ruiz and Noah McCarty-Slaughter. Produced by Sandy Ott-Rusk, directed by Kate Chaplin of Karmic Courage Productions and Cinematography by Robert Dalley.
